Galesburg ILLINOIS Drive In is OPEN
Message: I was looking at your information concerning the Galesburg, Illinois Drive In. You have a heading of "torn down", which is not true! It was idle for a number of years, during which time it was used as a junk yard for farm equipment. It was re-opened in 2005 after extensive renovation. The topography map you have posted for it's location is extremely out-dated - US 34 was re-routed 20 years ago, and no longer goes past the drive in. That has been redesignated as Illinois Route 164. The map doesn't show the state prison, either, also built over 20 years ago.
Anyway, if you Google "Galesburg Drive In", you'll no doubt find postings of newspaper articles about the resurrection of the drive in, now called the "Blue Moon" Drive In. I've taken my family 10 times so far this year alone. I was looking for a possible website link to find their upcoming attractions, but haven't found one yet. I guess I'll do what I always do - drive by after work on Friday to see what they have posted for this week's double feature.
