About:
Outdoor drive-in movie theaters (all closed) in Pullman, Washington
Research -- looking at microfilm of the defunct Pullman Herald -- finds that at one time, Pullman, Wash., had three drive-in movie theaters,

--Pullman Drive-In
--Varsity Drive-In Theater
--Big Sky Motor Movie

PULLMAN DRIVE-IN... ...was located near Pullman City Playfield, which, at that time, was the Pullman High School football field. For the record this field was NOT located near the old Pullman High School (now Gladish Community Center) nor near the new (current) Pullman High School.

...was apparently located at or near the intersection of Airport Road and the Moscow Pullman Highway. The highway is also know as Washington state Route 270. The drive-in was apparently located at or near the present location of Pre-Mix Concrete and Champion Electric & Lighting. Some Pullman Herald ads (such as one in the Aug. 3, 1951 issue) for this theater did not use the "Varsity" name. They just said "Drive-In Theater" and mentioned "Pullman-Moscow Hiway." So, perhaps in its earlier days it had a different name? Or, maybe it was called the "drive-in." An ad in the June 25, 1970, issue uses the "Varsity" name. Although located in Pullman, the theater was close to the Washington-Idaho border. Thus, it was closer to Moscow, Idaho, than to Pullman.

BIG SKY MOTOR MOVIE... was located on Wawawai Road on the outskirts of Pullman, driving toward Almota. Remnants of this theater was located on Wawawai Road on the outskirts of Pullman, driving toward Almota. Remnants of this theater are still visible. This apparently was Pullman's newest drive-in theater and the last of the three to go under.
